Everything you need to know before signing with Watersprings Publishing.
Yes — you retain full copyright ownership of your work at all times. The publishing agreement grants us a limited license to publish, distribute, and market your book, but the intellectual property remains entirely yours. This is clearly outlined in your contract, and no rights are transferred permanently.
Our standard agreement is non-exclusive, meaning you are free to publish your work through other channels simultaneously. Exclusivity arrangements are only entered into with your explicit written consent and are limited in scope and duration.
Yes. Upon completion of your project, you will receive the final edited manuscript as a .docx file, along with the interior layout and cover design delivered as print-ready PDF files. These are yours to keep and use freely.
Our packages include a combination of developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading. Authors typically go through 3 rounds of edits, followed by one final hardcopy proof review before distribution. This ensures every detail is polished before your book goes live.
Royalties are calculated as a percentage of net revenue — the amount received after print production costs (for print-on-demand titles) and retailer/distributor fees are deducted. You will receive both monthly and quarterly reports detailing all sales, deductions, and your net earnings.
Your book will be distributed across more than 30,000 global retail websites, including major platforms such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, and Kobo. Print-on-demand (POD) technology is included in all packages, allowing readers worldwide to order physical copies without requiring upfront inventory from you.
All titles are distributed through Ingram, making them available for order by any physical bookstore or library in the country. However, guaranteed shelf placement in brick-and-mortar stores is not included in standard packages. Our premium tier includes targeted outreach to independent bookstores.
Our team handles retailer metadata optimization, copywriting of your book description on Amazon and other retail platforms, and initial launch promotion. You are responsible for your personal social media, community engagement, and local event booking. A full breakdown of responsibilities is provided in your onboarding guide.
The typical timeline is 12–16 weeks from the date we receive your completed manuscript. This includes editing (4–6 weeks), interior design and cover production (3–4 weeks), and distribution setup and pre-launch preparation (3–4 weeks). Timelines may vary based on manuscript length and revision turnaround.
Yes. Should you choose to move to a different publisher or self-publish, you retain all your files and all rights to your work. We will provide a full file transfer package upon request. There are no penalties or transfer fees for transitioning, provided all contractual obligations have been fulfilled.
